Facebook has more than a billion users worldwide. Even if its stock isn’t worth what it initially was, the conversation and presence there still matters to the 552 million users who are reported to be active on it every day. These stats were compiled along with others by PR Daily in a report posted Aug. 17. One stat that I found interesting was that 46 percent are older than 45. I used to think that Facebook was primarily a young person’s channel. What may have occurred is that just when many of the original users got their parents and grandparents to join this outlet, they then went on to discover new channels of interest like Google+, Instagram and Pinterest.
We need to stay abreast of where our target audience is, or where it will be going. They may be on Facebook, but it may not be as relevant to them. If you have a product that will appeal to women, it’s interesting to note that 57 percent of the active users on Facebook are, indeed, women. The report on stats also noted that 25 percent on Facebook are married. It also appears that 70 percent are flirting.
